"At IIMIF, musicians are challenged to improve not only their playing ability, but their mental and physical connection to the notes as well."
-The Frederick News Post
Founded in 2003, IIMIF has been lauded as an exceptional summer solo and chamber music program for string players and pianists. With a maximum enrollment of 25 on-campus students each year, we offer a uniquely individual approach that is both challenging and supportive. Our interdisciplinary curriculum has been crafted to give young musicians an array of experiences that will elevate musicianship and artistic confidence. Participants have credited their IIMIF with technical, musical, and personal growth that has extended far into their studies and careers.
The IIMIF Program

A review of our 2020 session:

In July 2020, IIMIF moved online in response to Covid-19. Participants joined from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Hampshire, Virginia, and Brazil. Over the course of two weeks, we all connected with each other through daily workshops and yoga sessions, weekly masterclasses and performances, and lessons with our incredible faculty members.

"IIMIF is an amazing place where you learn to master what you love with some of the greatest teachers in the world."

"I loved that IIMIF focuses on the emotional and spiritual side of the musician just as much as the technical side. I've been to several summer programs, and this sets your program apart."

"The focus on a holistic approach and comprehensive musicianship made for an incredible experience. There are not enough words to capture how grateful I am for what I learned."

"I especially loved that this festival is so intimate. Great things come in small packages!"
