We are happy to share with you that Dr. Charles Borowsky (aka Karol and Karlheinz) will be celebrating a milestone birthday this year: on June 20 he will turn 85! We will be celebrating with a concert and invite you to attend!

CONCERT: One of Charles’ many creative undertakings has been the founding of the Intermuse International Music Institute and Festival. As part of this year’s program, on Thursday, June 20 at 7:00pm we will present a concert in at the Delaplaine Arts Center at Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD. The concert is open to the public and a cake reception will follow. Please RSVP using the form above.
COMMEMORATIVE BOOK: We know that your and Charles’ paths have crossed many times. It would be a great honor and joy for him if you could write a congratulatory note which would refer to your friendship, professional partnership, joint projects, actions, activities or even visits, fun times, and discussions. Your letter will be included in a special commemorative book which we will print for his birthday. It will be the most beautiful gift for him. Photos are also welcome!

- Creating and successfully directing the Yale Committee for Culture Relations with Poland. thus opening the iron curtain during the cold war.
- Organization of pro-Solidarity material help, and publicity through publications, concerts, lectures, on an international scale
- Partnership with the Center for Communal and Kibbutz Studies at Harvard
- Creating the Institute for Suburban and Regional Studies at Towson University; later an independent organization with centers in 16 countries
- Fostering international academic and cultural cooperation and exchanges, especially with China, Germany, France, Japan, England, Netherland, Poland, Cuba, Vietnam Israel, Bulgaria, Greece and more.
- Creating Intermuse Performing Artist’ Bureau to promote and foster international music exchanges according to the motto “Music the best bridge for all
- Sponsoring international students and scholars.
- Creating and successfully leading Save our Rural Heritage organization to fight the destruction of rural Pennsylvania.
- Creating the International Music Institute and Festival US (first in Coolfont, WV and later at Mount Saint Mary’s University, MD
- Organizing national and international events and conferences in the field of music, sociology, political science, suburban studies, and arts.
- Authoring challenging publications, promoting interdisciplinary studies, and pioneering studies in politics and religion.
- Lecturing in all European countries, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, India, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, Canada, Cuba, Morocco, Palestine, Vietnam
- Founding and directing the Apple Haven Farm -producing and supporting affordable organic produce.
- Member and supporter of academic, social and cultural organizations including
- International Sociological Association, American Sociological Association, International Political Science Association, Association of Suburban Studies, Society for Communal and Kibbutz Studies, Association for Religious Studies, German-American Heritage Foundation and Museum in the USA, Homeschooling , German Society of Pennsylvania, International Friends of Music, etc
- Arranging and sponsoring concert tours and lectures for Asian and European scholars and artists in the USA, and for Americans in Europe and Asia
- Conducting feasibility studies and finding the foundry for the National Katyn Memorial in Baltimore
- Board member of the German Society of PA, German-American Heritage Foundation in the USA. Wilsonian Club of the USA.
- Honorary professor at Nankai and Tianjin University (China), Haifa University (Israel), and National University of Korea.
