FAQ
Are scholarships available?
Yes! Each year, many of our participants receive need- or merit-based financial aid. Scholarships will be awarded based on documented financial need and a short financial-aid statement. Applicants are also encouraged to seek out sponsors in their communities. Past participants have successfully found support to fund remaining tuition expenses through donations from family and friends, online fundraising, grants, foundations, artistic venues and educational organizations, and benefit concerts.
What is the main difference between the campus and online programs?
On-campus participants will be assigned to a chamber music ensemble with daily rehearsals and coachings.
What will the lodging arrangements be like this year?
Each participants will be assigned to a single room within a 4-bedroom, 1-bathroom suite; however there will be only two students per suite. There is a spacious common area (living room) between bedrooms. For an additional fee, students may reserve the entire 4-room suite for themselves.
What are your COVID-related requirements?
In accord with our hosts at Mount Saint Mary's University, which has very successfully conducted a "Mount Safe" Initiative for on-campus learning, IIMIF is exploring every option for creating a successful on-campus experience for 2021. To provide maximum flexibility and safety to our students, we will offer every accepted student the opportunity to study, learn, and perform online, with an adjustment in tuition and fees. Similarly, we will require every student who opts to join us for an in-person experience to adhere strictly to health & safety requirements dictated by Mount Saint Mary's University, local jurisdictions, and the State of Maryland. Updated information will be provided to participants as we near the program.
What if the program can't take place on-campus due to COVID?
If we are unable to host IIMIF 2021 on campus, all events and participation will be moved online. This almost certainly will mean no chamber music, but it will still mean incredible musical growth and superb lessons and masterclasses. Payments in excess of the online course fee will be refunded.
Who can apply?
While IIMIF is targeted to college (graduate and undergraduate) and high school students, we welcome post-college and pre-high school participants. Participants under the age of 12 are required to have a guardian on campus with them.
