Technically speaking, everything is provided for you during our program. If you wish to purchase additional snacks, beverages, toiletries, or apparel at the campus store (located in the same building as the dining hall), it is open on weekdays, Monday through Friday 9am-4pm.

Who is overseeing students?
Students are supervised by a core group of resident assistants and faculty who reside on campus during the program. Contact information will be provided to participants and their families before the start of the program. For general questions and non-urgent matters, please email [email protected].

Mount Saint Mary's University Public Safety is open 24 hours and can be reached at 301-447-5357 for emergencies. In the event of a medical emergency, students will be taken to local physicians and medical facilities. Payment for off-campus services and for medications is the student's responsibility.

Day and Performance Attire

DrWhat should I wear during the day?
Day-to-day dress will be informal. Keep in mind that we will have daily yoga sessions before lunch; make sure that you will be able to participate in all the stretches: standing, sitting, and laying down. Be prepared for very warm (occasionally hot) days. Nights (and air-conditioned facilities) are usually cooler and a sweater or light jacket may be needed. You will be walking quite a bit on campus - plan accordingly and bring appropriate footwear.

What should I wear for masterclass participation?
Dress code is semi-formal; no shorts, no tank tops, no flip flops.

What should I wear for performances?
Dress code is formal: pants, dress shirts, formal shoes, etc. Skirts and dresses should be knee-length or longer while seated.
Outfits do NOT have to be all black!

There is high-speed wireless internet access throughout campus and in the dorms.

Can I receive mail?
Mail/packages will need to be addressed as follows:
(Your name)
Intermuse International Music Institute & Festival USA
c/o Office of Conferences and Special Programs
Mount St. Mary's University
16300 Old Emmitsburg Road
Emmitsburg, MD 21727

What is your policy on family/friend visits?
We gently ask that participants be allowed the opportunity to dive deep into their IIMIF experience!  Thus, family and friends are encouraged to limit their visits to public events.

Suggestion for parents of participants:
Please be aware that students are kept very busy during IIMIF. If you must contact your son or daughter, the best time will probably be during meal times as those are the only times that students are consistently free (breakfast at 8:00, lunch at 12:30, dinner at 5:30). Rest assured that if there is any problem, we will contact you. We suggest that you agree on a method and frequency of communication prior to IIMIF.

  • Cancellations made before April 15th receive a 50% refund.

"IIMIF is an amazing place where you learn to master what you love with some of the greatest teachers in the world."

"I loved that IIMIF focuses on the emotional and spiritual side of the musician just as much as the technical side. I've been to several summer programs, and this sets your program apart."

"The focus on a holistic approach and comprehensive musicianship made for an incredible experience. There are not enough words to capture how grateful I am for what I learned."

"I especially loved that this festival is so intimate. Great things come in small packages!"
