The International Music Institute and Festival USA is an intense summer program for accomplished young violinists, violists, cellists, and pianists. Our faculty are internationally acclaimed performers who are committed to assisting the next generations of musicians reach their personal and musical goals. Admission is limited, ensuring maximum personal attention to each student and thus great progress within a relatively short amount of time. Former participants have continued on to successful professional careers.
The main objective of IMIF-USA is to assist young musicians in reaching their personal and musical goals. Our faculty emphasize technical and artistic mastery of the instrument as well as development of the musician as a person.

Program Features
- Four private lessons with acclaimed faculty (violin, viola, cello, or piano)
- Master classes and recitals by faculty and guest artists
- Presentations by faculty and guest speakers on topics such as “Effective Practicing” and “Careers in Music”
- Reflections on personal and musical development
- Gentle morning exercises (stretches) tailored to musicians
- Chamber music participation and performance (groups are coached by faculty and guest artists)
- Student performances in public concerts open to the public
- Recreational activities
Concert Tour
The Institute is followed by a concert tour (optional), in which pre-selected participants stay with local families and perform concerts in Maryland and Pennsylvania. See events for details.
Leadership
IMIF-USA was founded by President of Intermuse Performing Artists Bureau, Dr. Charles H. Borowsky and his wife, renowned cellist Prof. Cecylia Barczyk. IMIF-USA is organized under the auspices of Intermuse and the International Friends of Music, in collaboration with the American String Teachers Association and Mount St. Mary's University.
